Nice

Nice theme. It seems that you experimented a little with different ways of conveying what your character was experiencing. The style and animation were good and the artwork was fine, except the characters looked very stiff. While the hands moved, the bodies almost never did. Doing little things like shifting the torso a tiny bit to either side as the hands threw things out of the door could help make the figure look more alive.

beccahyman responds:

Thanks for the advice, that's a nice tip with the torso thing. I've honestly never drawn anyone from behind before it was so weird! i'm going to keep practising my animation, hopefully get something more fluid in the future.

Decent

The dog looked fine, but the animation was a little jerky. On the whole, a few more frames her and there would have helped the whole thing look a bit more polished.
As for the story, I can't see any reason why the main character should be a dog. If the main character is a talking dog among humans, shouldn't the story reflect that?

sorbitol responds:

Is this really the first cartoon you've seen with a talking animal?

Fascinating from a creative perspective

It's an awesome use of creative perspectives on the same sound. In theory awesome but not so much fun to watch. Hearing the same sounds over and over got a little annoying. Perhaps randomly rearranging the sounds differently for each animator? It would at least eliminate the predictability of what sound comes next for the viewer.
Since each member contributed a sound effect, if you do this again you might want to ask members to keep in mind the viewers by not choosing high-pitched tones, which can be especially hard to hear repeatedly.

Graeme responds:

Rearranging the files defeats the purpose somewhat.
But suggesting about the pitch, I can manage.
Thanks

Needs a lot of work

It was basically a slideshow. You need a lot more frames to make it animation. Even though most people will recognize Monty Python and the Holy Grail, it is proper to give credit for audio that you didn't personally create.

A little gruesome..

Funny joke, but really a little generic. That's about all most people know about JW's, that they knock on a lot of doors. Really the joke would have worked the same with any annoying door-to-door group, religious or otherwise. I'll give extra points for the song, it was a good choice.

Slackman responds:

It could have worked for any door to door group I suppose, but Jehovas are one of the more famous ones.

I was flipping between that song and Knockin on Heaven's Door, but decided on this one because Heaven's Door was too downbeat and sympathetic.

Went too far

The animation was decent, but a little wooden at times. The audio is a bit faint, I had to turn up my speakers, and I still couldn't understand some of what people said.
You had some good points and I saw where you were going (even if I didn't completely agree) right up until the end. The ending was just too much. It was disappointing since I felt like you just erased all the points you just had made by overdoing the last part.

Slackman responds:

I suppose I'm not the most subtle animator ever, and this was far from my most subtle piece. I guess I'll have to work on the animation a bit, and I really have to improve my audio. Sorry you didn't like the ending, but thanks for the review!

Not bad

Not great either, just a couple of short clips. The clips look good and the music fits.
One question... who's right to vote are you talking about? (If you don't get the joke, check the dictionary for "suffrage".)

FClock responds:

I didn't say suffrage... I said SUFFERAGE!!

Not Bad

It was a fairly good contribution. The trees all looked exactly alike though. I'd like to have seen the oaks and maples look different, like oaks and maples do. The commentary was a good way to fill the middle with something interesting.
I have to say I disagree with your conclusion that the song is about civil unrest, in particular the civil rights movement (my view on this in no way affects the score). The ending in which all the trees lose in the attempt of making everyone equal lends to other interpretation.

Arch-Angel responds:

good point!

Borrowed too much from others

Every artist has influences on his work, but I think you've crossed into copyright issues. Particularly at the end when you see what is clearly a character from Bleach. Before that, he looked a lot like a character from DBZ with different hair.
The dialogue was a bit heavy handed, you don't need to put such a heavy emphasis on certain words and phrases. Try talking like you're talking to a friend in the same room, rather than making a speech.

FlashManJR14 responds:

i did this fairly quick to get the idea outhere and see if it was worth spending time on because im not gonna spend a billion hours on something and then nobody likes it... its just the way i am

Not bad

Nicely arranged for a teaser. The art is good, but could use a little polishing in a few spots. In particular the first guy's face was a little out of proportion.
The music was good except that you switched too many times. You have about 4 different themes throughout the trailer, which is too many. I can't tell if it is one long clip in the middle or two clips, but the music makes a change nonetheless. I'd recommend that you try to stick to two, maybe three different music clips at the most.

cris17 responds:

i think that might have been the music track its self, i dont believe i went over 3 but i may be mistaken, oh well thanks for the info ill take it into thought :D thanks for the review!

-edit-
ahhh yeup i did go over 3. lol alright alright ill take that into thought next time :P
